a) Bolt head

Most importantly, it can withstand shear forces perpendicular to the bolt axis, which is a weak point of ordinary fully threaded bolts. Threads are unsuitable for bearing shear forces and are prone to damage.
Provide a robust clamping surface: When tightening the nut, the smooth shoulder offers a strong and uniform support surface for the connected parts, preventing the threads from cutting or damaging the fastened components (especially wood).
Eliminate Clearance: The tightly fitted shoulders can reduce play between the connecting components.
c) Threaded portion
Position: Located at the end of the bolt.
Standard: Typically conforms to metric or imperial standards. Common thread types include coarse and fine pitches.
Length: The thread length is typically sufficient to accommodate the installation of a nut and washer.
