Radiator cap, also known as Radiator Pressure Cap, is installed on the car's water tank and is an important part of the car's cooling system.

A water tank cover with a valve that allows the cooling system to maintain a higher or more efficient temperature under pressure.

The Radiator cap itself has a pressure valve that works similarly to a domestic pressure cooker. The purpose is to increase the pressure inside the container to achieve high efficiency and high temperature cooling effect. The working principle of the Radiator cap is that when the car is running, the temperature of the coolant increases and the pressure in the water tank increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, the pressure valve is pushed open by the pressure, and the flushed coolant will flow into the side overflow. Tank, then when the car stops working, after cooling, the vacuum cooling system will suck the water in the overflow tank back to the tank.

How can a simple lid be so useful?

Same principle as raising the boiling point of water in a pressure cooker. The pressure water tank cover itself is a pressure relief valve, and the pressure usually set in the car is 1.05 kg / cm2. When water is pressurized, the boiling point of water increases.

As the temperature of the liquid in the cooling system rises, the liquid expands, causing pressure to increase. The pressure tank cover is the only outlet to release the pressure, so the setting of the spring on the cover determines the maximum pressure of the cooling system. When the pressure reaches 1.05 kg / cm2, the pressure valve will be flushed to allow the coolant to flow out of the cooling system. The coolant enters the bottom of the overflow box through the overflow pipe. This device blocks air from the system. As the radiator cools, a vacuum is created in the cooling system, which opens another spring-loaded valve and then reabsorbs water from the bottom of the overflow box to fill the drained water.
